Message from the Chairman
Firstly, I hope that you and your family remain safe and healthy during this time. It has been a challenging time for all of us personally during the past 4 months or so, and this has been no different with Stirling County Cricket Club. During this 2020 season (what there is of it), the board have continued to meet regularly and look to drive the ongoing initiatives. Most people who are having to work remotely will know of the reliance upon video-calls – the SCCC board have been communicating regularly and I think that it is fair to say that everyone is well versed with the use of Zoom!
As the season has gently started up again, the club have been doing the utmost diligence to ensure that our members remain safe when fixtures have been organised with our fellow clubs, to ensure that the facilities meet the required health regulations and that our members can play cricket in the safest environment possible. On behalf of the club, I would like to thank our members for working with the club and following all of the guidelines that have been put in place. On some occasions we have been rolling out the regulations as quickly as the advice is released/changes and sometimes teams have been communicated only a couple of days after the fixtures have been confirmed! It is a very ‘changing’ world that we currently live in, but we would not be in the position of playing/coaching cricket if it wasn’t for the support of our senior and junior members. Thank you.
On a slightly different topic (and from a personal perspective), I am announcing that I will be stepping down as club chairman at our Spring General Meeting (in Mar/ Apr-21). By communicating this early, I wanted to give the opportunity for any members to think about whether they would also like the chance to lead SCCC over the forthcoming years. By Easter 2021, I would have completed 4 years at the helm and feel that this is an ideal time to step aside for someone else to continue to drive through our initiatives, and lead SCCC on our journey to become “…the best cricket club in Scotland”. In addition to this, my professional workload is ever increasing and regrettably I simply do not have the time to dedicate to this great club.
We as a club have achieved much over the past 3.5 years, but there is still so much to do. We do require more of our membership base to become more actively involved, and supporting the financial revenues of the club is undoubtedly one of our key focal points. With an ever expanding junior playing section, any support in this area will also be very much welcomed. Our ability (as a club) to achieve the targets that we aspire to, are strongly correlated by the support of our membership – any assistance is greatly appreciated!
So if you are interested in leading SCCC (in any capacity) and help guide us to achieve our next milestone(s), and you would like to have an informal chat – then please contact me on email@example.com, or +44 (0) 7747 474296 and I can talk you through the opportunity. Alternatively, reach out to any of the SCCC Board and we would all be happy to discuss.
For me? Well, I intend to stay closely associated with the club and will remain as a coach within our junior section, supporting the great work that Vicki and Brian continue to drive.
All the best and stay safe,
